Drug driving
If you choose to drive after taking drugs, that decision can be life changing for you and the people around you.
It’s never been easier for Police Scotland to detect drug drivers. We can use handheld drug testing kits at the roadside for an immediate result.
Our message to people thinking about driving after taking drugs is you will get caught. Our officers are out every day, they will arrest you and that will affect you for the rest of your life. You could lose your job and your licence.
If you are convicted of drug driving, you could face a 12-month driving ban and up to six months in prison.
We detect thousands of drug drivers every year. Learn more about our enforcement figures.
