Area Commander

Chief Inspector Shaheen Baber is the Area Commander for Glasgow South West and is based at Helen Street Police Station in Govan. He is responsible for the daily management of policing, and making sure outcomes within the Local Policing Plan are delivered. 

He is supported by Management Support Sergeant Caroline Mulcahy and Community Inspector Scott Simpson based at Helen Street Police Station, and Community Inspector Ryan McMurdo based at Pollok Police Station.

Glasgow South West

Govan covers the areas of Greater Govan, Ibrox, Cessnock, Kinning Park, Tradeston and Bellahouston. The area has a large range of housing, with a mixture of council and privately owned properties. 

It is also known for its industry, with one of the largest ship building companies on the River Clyde. It is home to Ibrox Stadium, and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the largest hospital in Scotland.

Cardonald covers the areas of Corkerhill, Mosspark, Crookston, Cardonald, Hillington and Penilee. In addition to a range of residential housing, the area has an industrial section at Hillington Industrial Estate.
