Woman who died in Stranraer crash has been named

A woman who died following a crash in Stranraer on Saturday, 3 January, 2026, has been named.

She was Margaret Joy Todd, known as Joy, 85, from Stranraer.

Woman who has short hair and is wearing a rust-coloured shirt, pearls and a floral skirt. She is standing in front of a dresser unit with her handd clasped in front of her.

Joy was a pedestrian who was involved in a collision with a white Vauxhall Vivaro van. The van driver was uninjured.

Officers and emergency services were called to the crash at around 10.20am on Sheuchan Street near the junction with Park Lane.

The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened around 7.15pm later that day.

Sergeant Scott Costley said: “Our thoughts remain with Joy’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We continue to investigate this crash and would ask anyone who saw what happened, and hasn’t yet spoken to officers, to please get in touch. Any relevant dash-cam or video footage should also be shared with us as soon as possible.”
