Two men have now been charged in connection with the death of a man in Inverness.
Around 8.25am on Friday, 9 January, 2026, we received a report of three men having been injured outside a property on Balloan Road.
Police and emergency services attended, and two men were taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
The third man made his own way to hospital for treatment.
One of the men was pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital.
The two other men, aged 21 and 38, received treatment for minor injuries and have since been discharged.
Both have been arrested and charged in connection with the death. They are due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court at a later date.
Balloan Road has re-opened to motorists, but a continued police presence will remain in the area.
Detective Chief Inspector John Lumsden said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.
“Officers continue to carry out extensive enquiries at this time so there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.
“We understand this will be a concerning incident for the local community and would encourage anyone with concerns to approach local officers or call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0632 of 9 January, 2025.”
