Man jailed for attempted murder and firearms offences

A 36-year-old man has been jailed for 13 and a half years following the attempted murder of a man and discharge of a firearm.

Jamie Purdie was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow, on Tuesday, 20 January, 2026. He had pled guilty at the same court on Wednesday, 17 December, 2025.

The incidents happened on the morning of Monday, 3 February, 2025. Purdie attended a property at Craigievar Street in Glasgow and discharged a firearm at a man. After leaving the area in a stolen car, he crashed on the M8 near Chapelhall and fired the weapon again, before later being traced by police and arrested.

Detective Inspector Vicki Douglas said: “Purdie’s violent actions were premeditated and their public nature are extremely shocking.

“He will now rightly face the consequences and I hope this conviction demonstrates our commitment to bringing those involved in serious criminality to justice.”
