Fire at property in Valley View, Motherwell

Detectives are appealing for information after a fire was set in the Muirhouse area of Motherwell on Sunday, 25 January, 2026.

Around 12.55am, officers were called to a report of a fire set at the door of a property in Valley View.

Detective Constable Peter King said: "Luckily no-one was injured because of this fire, however, the consequences could have been much more serious.

"We are treating the fire as wilful, and our enquiries are ongoing to trace whoever is responsible and we are gathering CCTV footage from in and around the area. I'd appeal to anyone who was in the Valley View area early on Sunday morning who witnessed anything suspicious, or who has dash-cam or personal footage to please contact us."
