Counterfeit notes in Argyll and West Dunbartonshire

Police in Argyll and West Dunbartonshire have been made aware of counterfeit notes in circulation in the area.

Members of the public who work in shops or others jobs where they regularly handle cash are urged to be on their guard.

On receiving a note people are advised to check for spelling mistakes, wording, changes to the hologram, serial numbers and watermarks.

Anyone who deliberately uses counterfeit currency is committing a crime and we will investigate all instances reported to us.

If you suspect you may have received one of these notes or have information about those using them you should call police on 101.
