Appeal for information following serious crash in Hamilton

Road Policing officers are appealing for information following a serious crash in Hamilton.

The incident happened around 8.20pm on Wednesday, 21 January, 2026, on the A723 Quarry Street, near the junction with Avon Street, and involved a pedestrian, who was walking his dog at the time, and a black Audi A4.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a 66 year-old man, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he remains in a serious condition. The dog was taken to a local vet to be checked over.

The road was closed for a period of time to allow enquiries to be carried out.

Sergeant Ross Allison said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed what happened to please contact us with any information.

“In addition, anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage is asked to get in touch as this may assist in our enquiries.”
