Appeal for information following serious assault in Greenock

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in Greenock.

Around 12.50pm on Tuesday, 20 January, 2026, a 43-year-old man was approached by two male youths within Greenock Cemetery near to South Street and was seriously assaulted.

The males were on E-bikes and were wearing dark clothing with their faces covered. They made off in the direction of the Bow Farm area.

The 43-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Cheryl O’Donnell said: “This incident left a man with serious injuries, and extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of the cemetery at the time and saw the incident, or anyone matching the description of the suspects, to come forward and speak to officers.”
