Appeal for information following crash in Mayfield, Dalkeith

Officers are appealing for information following a crash in Mayfield, Dalkeith.

We were made aware of a crash involving a car and two female pedestrians on Westhouses Road, between 5.20pm and 5.30pm on Friday, 9 January, 2026.

The car did not stop at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the car which is described as black in colour.

The two female pedestrians, aged 12 and 13, attended at hospital for treatment and were later released.

Constable Ryan Prentice said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we are keen to trace the driver of the vehicle involved.

“I am asking anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed what happened to get in touch with us. Any drivers with dash-cam footage which may assist our enquiries is also asked to contact us.”
