Appeal for information after woman robbed in Wishaw

Detectives are appealing for information after a woman was robbed in Wishaw.

Around 4.10pm on Monday, 19 January, 2026, the 21-year-old woman was walking through Belhaven Park when she was approached by a male unknown to her.

The male threatened the woman and stole money from her purse. He made off in the direction of the wooded area near Carrick Crescent.

He is described as being aged around 15 or 16 years old, around 5ft, of slim build, and spoke with a local accent.

The male was wearing a black puffer jacket, black tracksuit bottoms, white Nike trainers and a balaclava type face covering with his hood up.

Detective Constable Gemma Woodhouse said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries to trace the person responsible, and I would ask anyone in the local area to check their dash-cams, private CCTV and doorbell footage as they may have captured what happened or the male involved.

“Anyone with information should contact us quoting incident 2372 of 19 January.”
