Appeal following serious of housebreakings in the Highlands
Officers in the Highlands are appealing for information following a series of housebreakings in recent weeks.
Between December 2025 and mid-January 2026, incidents have been reported in Fort Augustus, Drumnadrochit, Letter Finlay, Banavie and Kingussie.
In Fort Augustus, a number of properties in the Station Road, Arcdachy Road and North Canal Side areas were broken into which happened between late December and Wednesday, 7 January. A quantity of alcohol was reported stolen from one property, with enquiries ongoing to establish whether anything was taken from others. Two men were seen acting suspiciously in the area on Monday, 5 January and are believed to be linked to the incidents.
A break-in was also reported at a property on Kilmore Road in Drumnadrochit which is believed to have happened between Saturday, 10 January and Tuesday, 13 January.
In the Lochaber area, two adjoining properties on the A82 at Letter Finlay, north of Spean Bridge, were broken into between Saturday, 3 January and Friday, 9 January, with a three-figure sum of cash stolen. A further housebreaking was reported at a property in Banavie, Fort William, around 2.10am on Tuesday, 13 January, where a quantity of items, including jewellery, was taken.
A housebreaking at a property on Newtonmore Road, Kingussie was reported to police on Thursday, 9 January.
Extensive enquiries remain ongoing to establish whether there may be links between these incidents and all possibilities are being considered at this stage.
Detective Sergeant Laura Mackay said: "Our enquiries into these incidents are ongoing and we would ask anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in these areas to come forward.
"Anyone with private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage from the relevant dates and locations is encouraged to review it and contact police if they believe it may assist our enquiries.
"I would like to remind residents to be vigilant and mindful of home security. Keep all windows and doors locked and consider installing doorbell cameras, security cameras and alarms.
"Additional security advice is available on the Police Scotland website, and we'd urge the community to report suspicious activity to the police as soon as possible."
