Appeal following assault outside bar on South Street, St Andrews
Officers in Fife are appealing for information following an assault outside a bar in South Street, St Andrews.
Around 11.30pm on Saturday, 17 January, 2026, a man who had been refused entry became involved in an altercation, before assaulting a member of door staff and was arrested. The staff member was not seriously injured.
Four men who had seen the incident then assaulted the man who had been refused entry. He suffered a serious head and facial injury and was taken to Ninewells Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Officers are appealing for anyone who saw what happened, or knows who is involved, to come forward.
Inspector Helen Manuel said: “The victim was assaulted by a group of men and has sustained serious injuries. We need to trace this group and would ask anyone who was in the South Street area between 11.30pm and midnight on Saturday and who saw what happened, to get in touch.
“Anyone with video footage or information that can help our enquiries should come forward and speak with officers.”
