Two men jailed for murder of Alastair Campbell in Renfrew
Two men have been jailed for the murder of Alastair Campbell in Renfrew.
James Cook, 49, and Brian Reilly, 37, pled guilty to murder at Glasgow High Court on Monday, 15 September, 2025.
Cook [pictured] was sentenced to 16 years and eight months in prison while Reilly was sentenced to 15 years and nine months in prison when they appeared at the same court on Thursday, 18 September, 2025.
Alastair, 52, died shortly after being found seriously injured in the common close of flats on Renfield Street around 3am on Monday, 30 October, 2023.
Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie said: “Cook and Reilly will now face the consequences of their actions which led to Alastair’s death.
“I hope this sentence brings Alastair’s family some degree of closure and my thoughts remain with them.
“Violent incidents such as this are not tolerated in our communities and our officers will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.”
