Renewed appeal following further wilful fire in Jedburgh
Detectives are appealing for information following a further fire at a barn building near Sharplaw Road, Jedburgh on Saturday, 27 September, 2025.
Around 8.15pm, officers were called to the barn. The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries, however a car and quad bike were extensively damaged.
The fire is being treated as wilful along with a similar fire at the same address, which took place around 8.20pm on Tuesday, 23 September, 2025.
Detective Constable Carmichael said: "Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish more details on the exact circumstances surrounding these fires and why the farm building has been targeted twice.
"Luckily no-one has been injured, however the consequences could have been much more serious.
“I’d also like to ask drivers with dash-cams who were travelling on Sharplaw Road or in Jedburgh itself on the evening of Tuesday, 23 and Saturday, 27 September, 2025 to please review their footage, as they may have captured something which would assist our investigation.
"If you were in the area on Tuesday or Saturday evening and saw anything suspicious or out of the ordinary, please come forward. If you have any information that may assist our investigation, please call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3102 of 27 September.
