Philip Scott jailed for six years following fatal crash near Dalry
A 40-year-old man has been jailed for six years following a fatal crash on the A760, near Dalry in August, 2022.
Philip Scott was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on Tuesday, 16 September, 2025, having previously being found guilty to causing death by dangerous driving at the High Court in Kilmarnock.
The crash happened around 6.35am on Wednesday, 10 August, 2022, where 32-year-old cyclist, Euan Thomson was struck by a Mercedes van driven by Philip Scott.
Sergeant Stewart Taylor said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of Euan Thomson. We hope the outcome brings some comfort to them and allows them to move forward.
“Scott showed absolutely no regard for the law and his reckless actions highlight the devastating consequences of dangerous driving and the lasting impact it has on those involved, along with their families and friends.”
