Latest recruits appointed to the office of constable at ceremonies across Scotland
More than 130 recruits were welcomed to Police Scotland at a series of ceremonies across the country today, Thursday, 4 September, 2025.
One hundred and thirty seven probationers received their warrant cards as they made the declaration of a constable.
The officers are the latest recruits to join Police Scotland for a job like no other.
There are 91 males and 46 females in this latest intake, bringing officer establishment to 16,516.
The new recruits were joined by 15 special constables who also made the declaration.
Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston addressed the probationers at a ceremony at Police Scotland Headquarters, Tulliallan, while ACC Catriona Paton addressed the new recruits at a ceremony in Aberdeen. Chief Superintendent Rob Shepherd welcomed the latest recruits at a ceremony in Inverness, which included two special constables who will deploy in the area.
ACC Houston said: “Swearing the oath of office is a significant moment for our new recruits and I thank them for their commitment to public service.
“They are taking on the responsibilities and duties of a police officer, responding to communities who will rely on them for help, often in the most critical circumstances.
“When they deploy to communities they will uphold Police Scotland’s values of integrity, fairness, respect and a commitment to upholding human rights at all times.”
The officers will deploy to communities on 8 November following 14 weeks of their two-year probationer training.
