Man arrested and charged following the death of a woman in Ayrshire

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a woman in Ayrshire.

Around 12.20pm on Tuesday, 23 September, officers were called to a report an injured woman within a property in the Newmilns area.

Michelle Thomson, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The man is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday, 25 September, 2025.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
