Enquiries remain ongoing following assault of man in Rutherglen
Detectives are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in Rutherglen on Wednesday, 3 September, 2025.
The incident occurred around 11.00pm on the roadway at Westmuir Place.
A 22-year-old man was out walking when two men approached him and assaulted him. The injured man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to serious facial injuries.
The two men are described as white, with one around 5ft 11inches in height, wearing a white t-shirt.
The other man is around 5ft. 8 inches tall, wearing dark clothing.
Officers have been checking any relevant CCTV footage from in and around the area for additional information on the suspects.
Detective Constable Ross Meldrum said: “This attack has left the victim with serious injuries, and it is vital we trace the individuals responsible.
We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the two men described around Penman Avenue or Westmuir Place on Wednesday evening to get in touch.
“In particular we would like to hear from anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage which could be of significance to the investigation.”
