Second person dies following crash on B981, Cluny, Fife

A second person, a man aged 64, has died following a crash in Cluny, Fife, on Friday, 19 December, 2025.

Around 11.10pm, officers attended a collision between a black Nissan Qashqai and a Volkswagen Polo on the B981 between Cluny and the roundabout at Chapel junction.

The driver of the Polo, a 48-year-old woman died at the scene. Her 64-year-old passenger died in hospital this morning, Sunday, 21 December 2025.

One other passenger from the Polo remains in hospital.

The driver of the Qashqai, a 33-year-old woman, was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence. She was also taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.

The road was closed to allow enquiries to be carried out and was reopened around 6.30am on Saturday, 20 December 2025.

Sergeant Louise Birrell said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman and man who died.

“Enquiries into the crash are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything around the time to contact officers.

“I’d also ask that those with private CCTV or dash-cam footage which may assist to please review this to see if it has captured anything of significance.”
