Latest cohort of probationers prepare to report for duty
More than 90 new officers are getting ready to deploy to Scotland’s communities following the conclusion of the first stage of their probationer training.
The 94 probationers marked the end of their initial training and the beginning of the next stage at a formal parade in front of family and loved ones at Police Scotland headquarters, Tulliallan, today, Friday, 10 October, 2025.
They were congratulated by Chief Constable Jo Farrell, senior officers who oversee probationer training and officers from the policing divisions the probationers will deploy to when they complete the remainder of their training.
Chief Constable Jo Farrell said: “Policing is a job like no other and I am grateful to our new officers for stepping forward to keep people safe.
“They are committing to serve Scotland’s communities, to improve lives and protect the most vulnerable in our society.”
There are 36 females and 58 males in this most recent cohort.
Of the new recruits, five have military experience, two have previous policing experience and six were former members of Police Scotland’s youth volunteers.
