Man sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of Stephen Gray in Glasgow in 2023
A man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of Stephen Gray in Glasgow in 2023.
Gavin Gallagher, 33, was sentenced to life at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, 8 October, 2025, having previously been found guilty on Wednesday, 10 September, 2025.
Around 7pm on Friday, 3 November, 2023, officers were called to a block of flats on Southcroft Street, after a man was found seriously injured within. Stephen Gray, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detective Superintendent Hannah Edward said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Stephen and while we know nothing can change what has happened I hope this brings them some degree of closure as they try to move forward.
“This was a shocking attack and Gallagher will now face the consequences of his despicable actions.
“We are committed to bringing perpetrators to justice and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all officers for their dedication and commitment throughout this investigation and those members of the public who assisted with our enquiries.”
