Man jailed for causing death by dangerous driving following crash in Scottish Borders in 2023
A 32-year-old man has been jailed following a fatal crash on the A7 near the Ashkirk junction in the Scottish Borders in 2023.
Christopher Lynn pled guilty at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday, 3 October, 2025, to causing death by dangerous driving and seriously injuring two others. He was sentenced to six years in prison and disqualified from driving for nine years at the High Court in Edinburgh on Thursday, 30 October, 2025.

The incident happened around 3.45pm on Tuesday, 15 August, 2023, and involved a Vauxhall Astra, Ford Ranger, and Nissan Juke.
The driver of the Vauxhall Astra, 64-year-old Yvonne Nichol, was taken to Borders General Hospital where she later died. The passenger of the same vehicle, a 65-year-old man, sustained serious injuries.
The 71-year-old female driver of the Nissan Juke was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to serious injuries.
Inspector Dominic Doyle said: “"Lynn made choices which left him unfit to be behind the wheel of a vehicle that day. His reckless actions had devastating consequences, taking the life of Yvonne Nichol and leaving others with serious injuries.
"This tragedy serves as a powerful reminder of the responsibility every driver has when they get behind the wheel. One person's actions can have irreversible consequences for many others.
"Our thoughts are with Yvonne's family and loved ones, and all those affected by this needless loss."
