Man and woman arrested and charged following drugs recovery on A9 near Tain

A man and a woman have been arrested and charged after drugs with an estimated street value of more than £90,000 were recovered in the Highlands.

Around 4.40pm on Saturday, 11 October, 2025, road policing officers acting on intelligence stopped a car on the A9 near Tain. MDMA with an estimated street value of £80,000 and cocaine worth around £12,900 were seized from the vehicle.

A 39-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection with the recovery and will appear at court at a later date.

Constable Connor Milne, of the Highlands and Islands Road Policing Unit, said: “This is a significant recovery and demonstrates our continued efforts to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs and reduce the harm they cause in our communities.

“It also highlights our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy, working with partners to target those involved in such activity.
