Appeal following attempted robbery in Lanark
Detectives are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Lanark on Sunday, 5 October, 2025.
Around 10.15am, a man entered a premises on Bloomgate and threatened a member of staff with a weapon and asked for the till to be opened.
He left the premises when the till could not be opened.
The man is described as being white, around 5ft 10in tall, slim build and aged between 25 and 35-years-old. He was wearing a black zipper top with white panels on the sleeves, a black beanie hat, black tracksuit bottoms and a football scarf round his face. He made off towards Wide Close and on to North Vennel.
Detective Constable Ian Dymock said: “Thankfully no one was injured but the member of staff was left upset by what happened.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to trace the man responsible, and we are asking anyone who saw where he went or knows where he might be to get in touch.
“Please check any private CCTV you may have to see if anything has been captured that could help with our investigation.
“In addition, if you were driving in the area and have any dash-cam that might assist then get in touch.”
