Woman charged for shoplifting confectionary from Glasgow city-centre supermarkets
A woman has been charged in connection with the shoplifting of more than £1500 worth of confectionary in Glasgow.
Between 15 June and 16 November, ten incidents occurred at supermarkets within the city centre, where various sweets and chocolate were stolen.
As a result of inquiries conducted by local officers and Retail Crime Taskforce colleagues, a 25-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday 18 November.
She is scheduled to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 19 November.
Constable Andrew McCrystal from Glasgow's Retail Crime Taskforce said: “Any incident of shoplifting, regardless of the items stolen, or their total value, is treated with the utmost importance by our divisional policing teams and the Retail Crime Taskforce and we’ll utilise all resources at our disposal to bring offenders to justice.
“We remain committed to tackling retail crime in all its forms and ensuring those who work within our stores feel confident and safe to go about their duties and report any crimes that take place on site.”
