Malcolm MacLeod sentenced following attempted murders in Inverness
A 31-year-old man has been sentenced to 11 and a half years in prison following two attempted murders in Inverness.
Malcolm Macleod appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh on Tuesday, 18 November, after carrying out the machete attacks in the city last year.
He targeted 29-year-old Jay Williamson in Gilbert Street in January and 47-year-old Brian MacLeod in Dunabban Road in May. Both men required hospital treatment.
Detective Constable Chris MacAulay said: “These were shocking and violent attacks which left both the victims traumatised and with life-changing injuries.
“Macleod will now face the consequences of his actions.
“We are committed to tackling all forms of violent crime and the use of offensive weapons. They have a negative influence on our communities and can have a devastating impact on the lives of victims, their families and those who use them.
