Appeal for information following serious assault in Greenock

Detectives are appealing for information following a serious assault in Greenock.

The incident happened around 1.35pm on Monday, 12 May, 2025 on Captain Street.

A 26-year-old man attended hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as being a white man, in his 20s, wearing dark clothing.

Detective Sergeant Stewart Morrison said: “Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.

“We also ask anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 2435 of 12 May, 2025. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
