Appeal for information following intended theft and erratic driving in Alexandria
Officers in West Dunbartonshire are appealing for information following an intended theft incident in Alexandria.
The incident happened between 3pm and 3.30pm on Thursday, 29 May, 2025 in the Upper Bridge Street area.
Two men, both wearing dark coloured clothing with their faces covered, were seen in the garden of a property. They left the scene when disturbed and got into a parked grey BMW 3 series car.
A member of the public has then approached the suspect’s car and been threatened before the BMW collided with this witness’s car fleeing the scene.
The BMW has then been driven erratically through the local area, particularly on Main Street and Queen Street.
Detective Constable Iain McGill said: “I would ask anyone who may have seen this car in the Alexandria area, potentially driving erratically between Renton and Balloch yesterday afternoon (Thursday, 29 May), or with damage, to report this to us.
“Similarly, I would ask anyone with dashcam systems to check their footage and provide anything of relevance to us as soon as possible.”
Those with information should contact Police Scotland via 101 and quote incident number 2218 of 29 May 2025. Information can be given to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
