Appeal following fatal crash on the A76, New Cumnock
Road policing officers are appealing for information following a fatal crash on the A76 near New Cumnock, Ayrshire.
The incident happened around 3.45pm on Thursday, 1 May, at Castle and involved a white DAF articulated lorry and a pedestrian.
Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, an 85-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver was not injured.
The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened around 12.20am on Friday, 2 May.
Sergeant Brian Simpson said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died and they have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.”
