A man has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for the murder of Christopher McMahon in Lanark.
Stephen Kelly, 29, pleaded guilty on Friday, 25 April, 2025 at the High Court in Glasgow. He was sentenced at the High Court in Kilmarnock on Wednesday, 28 May, 2025.
Christopher McMahon, 31, died after he was stabbed within a property in Braxfield Terrace around 10pm on Wednesday, 4 October, 2023.
Detective Chief Inspector Campbell Jackson said: “Christopher’s family has been left devasted and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.
“I hope this sentence brings at least a degree of closure for them.
"I would like to thank all officers involved for their dedication and commitment throughout the investigation as well as those members of the public who assisted with our enquiries.”
