Two people who died in a crash on the A98 near Buckie named
Two people who died in a crash on the A98 near Enzie, Buckie, on Tuesday, 10 June, have been named.
The incident happened around 12.30pm and involved a white Vauxhall Insignia and a blue Peugeot 2008.
Emergency services attended and the driver of the Vauxhall died at the scene. She was Amanda Lawson, aged 32, from Mosstodloch.
A passenger in the Peugeot also died at the scene. She was Janet Cowie, aged 77, from Buckie.
Both families have asked for privacy. The family of Amanda Lawson has released the following statement:
“Amanda was a much-loved partner and mother to three young boys. She will be sorely missed by family and friends. We would ask that our privacy is respected at this time and we and her young family are allowed to grieve.”
The driver of the Peugeot, a 77-year-old man, was taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries where he remains undergoing treatment.
Sergeant Dave Cooper, of the Roads Policing Unit in Elgin, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of both women who died.
“Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and we ask anyone who can assist who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.
