Man arrested and charged in connection with being in possession of offensive weapons in Irvine
A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with being in possession of offensive weapons in Irvine.
The incident happened on the evening of Friday, 20 June, 2025, while officers were carrying out patrols in the Montgomery Street area of Irvine as part of the Safer Shores initiative.
The man is expected to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court at a later date.
Sergeant Will Thomson said: "As part of our Safer Shores initiative, officers are carrying out pro-active patrols to ensure public spaces in Ayrshire are safe for everyone to enjoy.
"This work will continue in our communities and any criminal or anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. Anyone engaging in such behaviour can expect enforcement action to be taken.
"Anyone with concerns is encouraged to report it to Police Scotland on 101, or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
