Two men arrested after wilful fire in Ross-shire
Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with a wilful fire at a property in Tain.
Around 4.25am on Thursday, 10 July, 2025, police were made aware of a fire at the Mansfield Estate in the town. Emergency services attended, it was extinguished and there were no reports of injuries.
Officers are investigating a similar incident within the same housing estate on Sunday, 13 July, and are keeping an open mind on whether these fires may be linked.
Two men, aged 19 and 40, are due to appear at Tain Sheriff Court at a later date in connection.
Detective Inspector Calum Reid said: “Enquiries are ongoing into both incidents and I’d ask anyone with information to come forward.
“I’d also ask anyone with dash-cam, doorbell or private CCTV footage to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.
"We appreciate how concerning these incidents have been for the local community in Tain want residents to be assured that we are investigating theses fires and are determined to find those responsible."
