On Wednesday, 23 July, 2025, Amanda Welsh, 49, Conner Thomas, 29, and Laura McHugh, 32, appeared at the High Court in Glasgow and were sentenced to 17 and a half years, 18 years and 17 years respectively in jail.

Joseph McGready, 30, died in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after he was stabbed within a property in Braid Square around 11.30pm on Friday, 29 September, 2023.

All three previously denied murder during the trial at the High Court in Glasgow, however jurors returned unanimous verdicts against the trio.

Detective Inspector Sandy MacKinnon of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team said: “Joseph McGready’s family and friends have been left devasted and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time. I hope this sentence brings at least a degree of closure for them.

"Welsh, Thomas and McHugh now face the consequences of their cowardly and callous actions.

"I wish to thank all officers involved for their dedication and commitment throughout the investigation, as well as those members of the public who assisted with our enquiries.”
