Serious assault - Inverness
Detectives are appealing for information following the serious assault of a 72-year-old man in Inverness.
The incident took place between 4pm and 5pm on Wednesday, 2 July, 2025, within a wooded area of footpath, which leads from the junction of Carnarc Crescent and Kessock Avenue to the nearby railway crossing within the Merkinch Nature Reserve.
The suspect is described as male, white, around 35-40 years-old, around 5ft 8 in height and of stocky build, with short brown hair. He was wearing dark clothing, spoke with a local accent and was with a medium-sized dog.
Detective Constable Gary Hines, said: “The injured man managed to make his way to Raigmore Hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.
"We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or observed a man matching this description in the area at the time, to contact us.
