Message of thanks following death of cyclist in Helensburgh
Detectives extend a message of thanks to members of the public who assisted with enquiries to identify a cyclist who died in Helensburgh.
The man was pushing a bicycle in Glen Fruin Road in the town around 11.50am on Saturday, 26 July, 2025, when he took unwell.
Emergency services attended however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
An appeal was launched to help identify him and members of the public called in to assist.
Officers believe they now know who the man is although formal identification has still to take place.
Detective Sergeant Neil Allison said: “I would like to extend my thanks to those people who called in to assist with our appeal.
“We believe we now know who the man is which has been helped by the assistance we received from the public.”
Formal identification has still to take place however the death is not believed to be suspicious and is being treated as unexplained at this time.
A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
