Men arrested and charged in connection with shoplifting in Ayr

Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with more than 30 offences as part of a day of action in Ayr to combat retail crime.

The men, aged 19, 44 and 51, are due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday, 21 July, 2025.

Community Sergeant Stewart Slaven said: “This type of crime causes misery in our communities, impacts on retail works and creates financial hardship to businesses and will not be tolerated.

“The Retail Crime Taskforce has been set up to address a rise in offences such as shoplifting and we will continue to work with partners to actively target those responsible.”
