Man seriously assaulted on High Street, Peebles

Detectives are appealing for information after a 29-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Peebles on Wednesday, 16 July, 2025.

The incident took place between 1.30am and 2am on High Street, near to its junction with St Michaels Wynd.

He was taken to Borders General Hospital where staff describe his condition as serious.

Detective Constable Lucy Inglis said: "Our enquiries are at an early stage to establish more information on the circumstances surrounding this assault and to identify the person responsible.

"I would urge anyone who was in the High Street area early on Wednesday morning who witnessed this, or who has any information or personal footage that may assist us, to come forward.

"Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 0339 of 16 July, 2025. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
