Man arrested for Glasgow city-centre shopliftings
A man has been arrested following numerous high-value shopliftings from a supermarket in Glasgow City Centre.
Between 8 and 30 July, the store in Buchanan Street reported 16 incidents of alcohol being stolen from within and staff being threatened.
The total value of stolen alcohol is believed to be around £2,000.
As a result of inquiries conducted by city centre officers, a 25-year-old man was charged and will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday 1 August.
Sergeant Andy Muir said: “These shopliftings resulted in the premises losing a significant quantity of product, but more importantly, left the staff working at the time of each incident feeling unsafe and that is totally unacceptable.
“Tackling shoplifting and other forms of retail crime is a priority here in the city centre and local officers continue to work alongside Retail Crime Taskforce colleagues to identify offenders and bring them to justice.”
