Appeal for information following damage to Scottish Borders Council estate in Newtown St Boswells
Officers are appealing for information following a series of incidents that have caused significant damage to the Scottish Borders Council estate in Newtown St Boswells.
Around 9pm on Wednesday, 23 July, 2025, we received a report of damage to the estate on Sprouston Road.
There have also been numerous other incidents of damage to the estate and adjoining community wing throughout July, with damage now totalling more than £5,000, and including over 40 smashed windows.
Enquiries are ongoing.
Constable John Murray from the Selkirk Community Policing Team said: “This damage is a deliberate and re-occurring act to the council estate and is amounting to a significant amount of money.
“I would urge anyone in the local community who has noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area over the past month to speak to police. Additionally, if you have any private CCTV close to the area, please get in touch.”
