Appeal following attempted robbery in Kelso
Officers are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Kelso on Saturday, 26 July.
Around 5.15pm a man and a woman were depositing items at a night safe outside a bank on Bridge Street in the town when another man attempted to grab one of their bags.
When members of the public arrived to assist the man made off empty handed in the direction of the old kirk churchyard.
He is described as white, around 20 to 25-years-old, 5ft 9ins and wearing dark trousers and a beige top.
The woman was not injured and the man sustained a minor injury that did not need medical treatment.
Detective Constable Nicky Batten said: “Thankfully no one was seriously injured but the man and woman were left very upset by what happened.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to trace the man responsible and we are asking anyone who saw where he went or knows where he might be to get in touch.
“Please check any private CCTV you may have to see if anything has been captured that could help with our investigation.
“In addition, if you were driving in the area and have any dash-cam that might assist then get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2850 of Saturday, 26 July, 2025.
