Two charged following reports of motocross bikes in New Elgin
Two males have been charged in connection with road traffic offences following reports of motocross bikes in the New Elgin area.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, 2 December, 2025, we were called to a number of reports of the bikes being driven at speed on public footpaths.
The males were later traced in connection, the motocross bikes seized and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Constable Stephen Shand said: "Using these vehicles in a public place is not only illegal, it puts members of the public at risk of harm.
“Unregistered motor vehicles, including e-bikes and e-scooters, cannot be used on footpaths or roadways.
“As we approach Christmas time, we urge anyone considering buying one of these vehicles as a gift to research the legal requirements for operating them and consider the safety of not only those who intend to use them, but also other members of the public.
“I would like to thank the local community for reporting such incidents to us and urge anyone else with information on similar incidents to come forward. It will be taken seriously and we’ll fully investigate.”
Anyone with information or concerns about the anti-social use of motorbikes, e-bikes or e-scooters can contact Police Scotland on 101 or complete our online contact form.
