Woman impersonating police officer in West Dunbartonshire
Residents in West Dunbartonshire are asked to be cautious after reports of a woman impersonating a police officer.
On three occasions today, Wednesday, 3 December, 2025, home owners have been contacted via a withheld number from a woman an English accent, claiming to be a police officer.
The woman does not ask for money or personal details but these calls are malicious and impersonating a police officer is a crime.
Inspector MacNeill said: "We are urging residents to be cautious if they receive a phone call from someone claiming to be a police officer, particularly if this unexpected.
"You can ask for their name, shoulder number or PSI number and any genuine police officer will have these to hand. If you have any doubts at all, hang up and then call 101."
