More than 130 officers get ready to deploy to communities

Police Scotland is preparing to deploy 131 officers to communities across the country following successful conclusion of their first stage of probationer training.
The officers celebrated the end of their initial training by taking part in a parade in front of family and loved ones at Police Scotland Headquarters, Tulliallan, today, Friday, 5 December, 2025.
Chief Constable Jo Farrell said: “I am grateful to our new officers for their commitment to public service.
“When they begin their operational deployment they will play a fundamental role in achieving our vision of safer communities, less crime and supported victims. They will contribute to the country’s wellbeing, keeping people safe and protecting the most vulnerable in our society.”
There are 44 females and 87 males in this cohort of probationers.
The initial training programme will extend from 16 to 18 weeks with the next intake of new recruits on 12 January 2026.
The extension will enhance legislative learning and its practical application. It will also improve fitness standards, wellbeing support and allow for a greater focus on investigative ability, both in the investigation of crime and in the support the officers provide to victims.
