Man who died in Inverness named

The 32-year-old man who died in Inverness has been named as Iain MacFarlane.
Emergency services were called to a property on Strathspey Place around 8.30am on Thursday, 4 December, 2025. Iain was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family has issued this statement via Police Scotland:
“We are devastated by the death of Iain. We would like to thank the community for their support and kind tributes to him. It has brought us comfort at this difficult time. We ask for privacy as we continue to come to terms with what has happened.”
Following the results of a post-mortem examination, Iain’s death is being treated as murder.
A 52-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the death and appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday, 8 December.
Detective Inspector Caroline MacKay said: “Our thoughts remain with Iain’s family and friends. We have specially trained officers supporting them at what is a very difficult time.
“I’d like to thank the local community for the support and patience shown while enquiries were conducted in and around the area.
