Man sentenced for serious assault in Aberdeen

A man has been sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh following a serious assault in Aberdeen.
Jackson Bennett, 20, was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on Thursday, 18 December, 2025, to three years and six months, after pleading guilty at the same court on Friday, 21 November.
Around 1.10am on Sunday, 11 August, 2024, police were called to a report of a man having been assaulted in the Union Street area of the city. The 32-year-old man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious injuries.
Detective Sergeant Emma Low said: "This was a violent attack which resulted in a man requiring prolonged hospital treatment for serious injuries. The harm caused by this incident has been significant and has had lifelong consequences for the victim.
"Violent behaviour such as this will not be tolerated and those who engage in this type of conduct can expect to be thoroughly investigated and for robust action to be taken against them."
