Man given life sentence for murder of man in Troon

A 35-year-old man has been given a life sentence for murdering a man in Troon.
James Thomson was found guilty of the murder of Callum Pollock on Thursday, 30 October, 2025, following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
He was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 19 years at the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday, 5 December, 2025.
Around 11.40pm on Saturday, 6 July, 2024, officers were called to a report of a man having been seriously injured within a property at Ramsay Court, Scott Crescent.
Callum, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene and Thomson was arrested and charged in connection with his death.
Detective Chief Inspector Keith Runcie said: “Thomson will now face the consequences of his actions for carrying out a violent attack which resulted in the death of a young man.
“Our thoughts remain with Callum’s family, and I hope this sentence brings them some level of comfort as they come to terms with their loss.
“I want to reassure the public that incidents such as this are not tolerated in our communities and our officers will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.”
