Man arrested and charged following drug recovery on the M74 near Moffat

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a drugs recovery on the M74 near Moffat.

Around 9.45am on Wednesday, 17 December, 2025, officers on patrol had reason to stop a car on the M74 Glasgow to Carlisle Road, northbound carriageway near to Moffat.

A quantity of cocaine, estimated to be worth £175,000 was recovered.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection, and he is due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Thursday, 18 December, 2025.

Detective Inspector Wilson said: “This was a significant recovery of drugs which have now been removed from our streets.

“Drugs are a blight on our community, and we remain committed to disrupting their supply.
