Appeal following wilful vehicle fire in Rutherglen

Detectives are appealing for information following a wilful fire in Rutherglen.

Around 3.50am on Sunday, 14 December, 2025 we received a report of a Ford Transit van on fire on Skye Road.

Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

There were no reports of any injures.

The fire is being treated as wilful, and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Constable Muhammad Yas from Lanarkshire CID said: “We are appealing to anyone that may have witnessed anything suspicious that evening in the area, to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.”
